Indianapolis, IN -- The Planned Giving Round Table of Northern Nevada (PGRT) was awarded the honor of the National Association of Charitable Gift Planners (CGP) Council of the Year at the 2022 CGP Conference in Reno, Nevada.

The CGP Council of the Year award recognizes a council that demonstrates significant achievement in the preceding year. This award celebrates innovative programming, special events, membership growth, community impact and other areas of contribution to the charitable gift planning field.

PGRT is a non-profit professional organization dedicated to advancing and promoting charitable gift and estate planning in the Northern Nevada community. Each year, PGRT offers a variety of educational content and programming that are designed to enhance member’s professional development and foster a collaboration among the disciplines that involve planned giving. ​

The nominator of Planned Giving Round Table of Northern Nevada’s noted their impressive strides in programs, professional development, continuing education and scholarship opportunities.

PGRT hosts in person programs and seminars on the topics of estate, tax and gift planning.
They provide opportunities for networking with other gift planners, including accountants, attorneys, development officers, and financial planners. Their programs regularly include regionally and nationally-recognized speakers and experts on important topics.They also provide updates to their members on tax code changes and legislation that are related to charitable gift planning.

The Planned Giving Round Table of Northern Nevada offers scholarships for nonprofit professionals, small-shop and independent allied professionals, or fundraising professionals new to the field of planned giving. The scholarship includes a one-year PGRT membership. Those who receive the scholarship agree to regularly attend events and support the efforts of the board’s committees and task forces in areas of membership, marketing, and programing. These scholarships are made possible through the generosity of the PGRT Board and other supporters. 

“Planned Giving Round table of Northern Nevada is incredibly grateful for past leadership, current board members, sponsors, and especially our members,” says current PGRT President Danny Schenker. “This award is a culmination of everyone’s effort who have touched PGRT in one way or another over the past 18 years. PGRT also utilizes unique programs for their in person and virtual programming and networking events. These sponsorships allow them to provide fuller and more comprehensive services and opportunities for their members. 

Planned Giving Round Table of Northern Nevada leadership sets the tone for engagement and community impact. PGRT received the 100% Giving Board Award in 2021. PGRT builds a community of philanthropy through education, communication and charitable gift planning.

Dave Stokley receives 2022 National Association of Charitable Gift Planners Rising Star Award

Indianapolis, IN -- Dave Stokley, JD, AEP, of Cleveland, Ohio, recently received the prestigious honor of the National Association of Charitable Gift Planners (CGP) Rising Star Award 2022 CGP Conference in Reno, Nevada.

The Rising Star Award is given to a newcomer in the field of charitable gift planning with outstanding talent and potential. The work of charitable gift planning is ever changing and expanding; this award encourages recipients to consider a lifelong pursuit of the field and continue active membership in their local councils and national association.

Dave Stokley is a planned giving professional with previous experience as legacy giving officer, charitable trust administrator, and estate planning attorney. He is involved in a variety of community boards and activities. His professional talents and dedication to his community were noted by his nominator for this award.

Previously a Gift Planning Advisor at the Cleveland Foundation, Stokley began a new role as Senior Director, Planned Gifts for The Humane Society of the United States in October. At The Humane Society of the United States, Stokley helps individuals who care about animals accomplish their philanthropic goals, make a personal impact, and create a long-lasting legacy. 

Stokley earned his J.D. from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law where he also served as the Managing Editor of The Ohio State Journal on Dispute Resolution. He received his B.A. from Wittenberg University and has an Accredited Estate Planner (AEP) certification from the National Association of Estate Planning Councils. 

“More than anything this award is a testament to the generosity of the many great mentors I’ve had throughout my career, including Diane Strachan, Augie Napoli, Chuck Miller, Terri Eason, Mike Walczak, Don Laubacher, and many others,” said Stokley, “I’m so grateful to all of them for their time, knowledge, and support.”
