AI Adoption in the Gift Planning Community from the March Perspectives Poll

• 28% of professionals use AI tools daily.

• 28% incorporate AI on a weekly basis.

• 20% of people haven’t purposefully used artificial intelligence in their role.

• 15% utilize AI every so often.

• 5% engage bi-weekly.

• 3% of people use it monthly.

While the slight majority (56%) of professionals regularly leverage AI in their work, a significant percentage of people are still navigating how to leverage emerging technologies. For some gift planning professionals, AI has become an indispensable daily companion, assisting with everything from donor research to gift calculations. For others, these tools represent an occasional resource to be called upon for specific tasks.

From search engine software to streamlining donor engagement, AI is integrating into so many facets of technology. As technology continues to evolve, it will be more important to find the right approach that aligns with your organization’s values, donor relationships and strategic objectives. The key to effectively using AI isn’t about using it for everything, but rather identifying where these tools can most meaningfully enhance your impact. 

When implementing AI solutions, professionals and organizations should consider thoughtfully incorporating solutions into their roles. 

Essentials to Adopting AI: 

Invest in Training: Provide team members with the knowledge and skills necessary to use AI effectively. 
Create Standards for AI Use: Establish clear policies regarding organizational use of AI. Consider data privacy, when and how to disclose AI use, unintended bias, and the correlation to the organization's mission. 
Start Small: Identify one well-defined area where artificial intelligence could make an immediate impact.
Maintain the Human Touch: AI is a tool to enhance, not replace, personal connection and skills.
