Advocacy News Brief: February 2026
Posted by Michael Kenyon-CGP President and CEO on Feb 19, 2026 01:09:47 PM
Welcome to CGP’s 2026 Advocacy News Brief. This new bi-monthly addition will keep you informed about CGP's advocacy work to promote a healthy legislative environment for charitable giving. We will provide updates on proposed actions by Congress and connect you with resources and opportunities to educate lawmakers on key issues affecting gift planning.
CGP has significantly increased its advocacy. In response to mounting pressure to limit tax incentives for charitable giving, CGP is now active year-round in Washington, DC, through our partners at Integer, building relationships with legislative offices and actively engaging key lawmakers on committees important to our sector.
CGP’s advocacy work elevates the entire sector. By coordinating with other national groups and initiatives, such as the Charitable Giving Coalition, Community Impact Coalition, and National Council of Nonprofits, we amplify our voice and drive greater impact on key issues.
CGP monitors key legislation at the state level. Recently, we heard from members with concerns about Senate Bill 700 passed in Florida. During the March Advocacy Update, we will feature a guest presenter to explain the bill and how charities can respond. Advocacy Updates are free to attend, but registration is required. Click here to save your seat for the next Advocacy Update on March 19 at 2 p.m. ET.
