Title: A Personal Story--Flip CRT with Closely Held Stock

Presenters: Judi Taylor Cantor and Laura Alexander

Date: October 11, 2022

Time: 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. EST

Working with donors to complete gifts of business interests can be challenging, but they tend to be large and rewarding, too. In this session, we will discuss valuation and transferability issues, tax pitfalls, and roadblocks that can arise with such gifts. Our goal is for attendees to feel more confident in discussing these complex gifts with potential donors and have the tools necessary to evaluate them from both the charity's and the donor's perspectives. As a case study, Ms. Cantor and Ms. Alexander walk the audience through a real-life flip CRUT funded with shares in an LLC. Ms. Cantor has a unique perspective on this case, since she and her husband were the donors.
