Indianapolis, IN – The Greater Cincinnati Planned Giving Council of Cincinnati, Ohio was awarded the honor of the National Association of Charitable Gift Planners (CGP) Council of the Year at the National Conference on Philanthropic Planning.

The CGP Council of the Year award recognizes a council that demonstrates significant achievement in the preceding year. This award celebrates innovative programming, special events, membership growth, community impact and other areas of contribution to the charitable gift planning field.

The Greater Cincinnati Planned Giving Council has been one of the largest and most active councils in the country since 1988. They offer members diverse programs, which provide frequent, economical opportunities for professional education and personal development for members, ranging from beginners to persons with many years of experience.

The council's Planned Giving on the Run program is starting its twelfth session. The program has trained over 200 people in the Cincinnati community in that time. Each session commonly consists of 25-30 students, including executive and/or development directors, front-line fundraisers, development coordinators, as well as those staff hired to specialize in gift planning. In addition, each session typically consists of a dozen or so individuals from the financial or legal fields, including attorneys, wealth planners, and bank trust officers.

The council started a diversity initiative in 2015. Through this initiative the council offers 3 scholarships to Planned Giving on the Run, which includes one year of free membership to the council and one-year of mentorship. The initiative also provides seven free one-year memberships to the council in efforts to diversify the membership.

The National Association of Charitable Gift Planners is committed to improving the art and science of the charitable gift planning process. We equip members with relevant resources, including guidelines, articles, model documents and samples that help enrich and advance careers. We connect colleagues at all levels through our national network, including those who defined the field. We exist to serve our distinguished profession and bring life to charitable gift planning.
