Thank you for your interest in speaking at the 2020 CGP Conference. The conference is the largest gathering of charitable planners in the country, where more than 800 attendees come to learn from and with their peers. This year we’re seeking presenters to help us fill five tracks, including three that are new.

What CGP looks for:

An increasing body of research shows that adults learn better when they are actively engaged in applying content to their own challenges, rather than passively listening to a lecture. We prefer proposals that include strong plans for active learning.

Our attendees want to leave the conference with new tools and ideas that are immediately useful in practice. We review proposed learning objectives and ask, “Does the presentation provide information that is immediately useful in practice?”

Most of our attendees have 10 or more years of experience in charitable planning and describe themselves as planned gift specialists. They’re interested in sessions that go beyond the basics. People who are new to gift planning also attend our conference, though, so we’re also seeking sessions that focus on fundamentals and best practices.

Speaker Benefits

If you are chosen to speak, breakout speakers receive free conference registration and one complimentary night at the Marriott Chicago Downtown. We do not offer complimentary rooms in other hotels.

Speaker Responsibilities

All breakout speakers are required to submit a paper--slides alone are not accepted. Paper guidelines will be provided to speakers whose presentations are accepted. Slides can be submitted at the same time as your paper if they are in final form, but this is not required. (Final slides will be collected immediately after the conference from speakers who have not already submitted them.)

Important Dates

  • February 28: Call for Presentations closes at midnight Eastern time. You may make changes to your proposal until that time.

  • April 6: All speakers who participate in the Call for Presentations will be notified whether or not their session has been selected for the conference program.

  • September 1: Conference papers are due.
